Home-made Liquid Calcium
Calcium extract from eggshells—a make-your-own recipe
You gotta watch this fun! ( a few seconds)
So fun to watch it work!
In glass or plastic (not metal) container that holds at least 2 quarts, add
5 cups vinegar (clear or apple cider vinegar, but must be 5%)
1 cup crushed not powdered eggshells. About 1/4” pieces.
Label this. Watch the fun!
Steep 5 days. Strain. Use “spent” eggshells as grit for chickens, or mix into compost pile or garden soil.
This is a concentrate.
DILUTE before applying. (Avoid stirring w. a metal spoon)
1 part extract to 7 parts non-chlorinated water, or
5 cups extract to 2 gallons of non-chlorinated water.
APPLY one of two ways to vegetables, fruits, flowers, herbs
DILUTED as a foliar and drench every 2-3 weeks.
2. UN-diluted ingredient in your Fish-&-Kelp applications every 10-14 days (see Fish the Flats & Crops)
STORAGE: in glass jar & plastic lid, and in refrigerator. This will keep for only 2-4 months. It will probably get some mold on surface, which can be removed and still use the extract.
