Home-made Liquid Calcium

Calcium extract from eggshells—a make-your-own recipe

So fun to watch it work!

In glass or plastic (not metal) container that holds 2 quarts, add

5 cups vinegar (clear or apple cider vinegar, but must be 5%)

1 cup crushed not powdered eggshells. About 1/4” pieces.

Label this.    Watch the fun!

Steep 5 days.  Strain.

This is a concentrate.

STORAGE: in glass jar & plastic lid, and in refrigerator.  This will keep for only 2-4 months. It will probably get some mold on surface, which can be removed and still use the extract.

DILUTE before Applying. (Avoid stirring w. a metal spoon)

1 part extract to 7 parts non-chlorinated water, or

5 cups extract to 2 gallons of non-chlorinated water.

APPLY to vegetables, fruits, flowers, herbs.

WHEN & HOW to APPLY

1. Apply alone—dilute and do a combo drench and foliar application every 2-3 weeks. &/OR

2. Use as undiluted ingredient in your Fish-&-Kelp applications every 10-14 days (see Fish the Flats & Crops) &/OR

3. Use as undiluted ingredient in your Boron-Calcium recipe, only once-per-season, only as a spray application in mid-July. (A recipe is coming soon).

Use “spent” eggshells as grit for chickens, or mixed into compost pile or garden soil.
